The continued rumblings of Mauna Loa have Big Island residents concerned about a possible eruption. On Saturday, November 5, 2022, Hawai'i County Civil Defense Agency organized a community discussion about the status of Mauna Loa. Hawaiian Volcano Observatory and USGS scientists participated in the meeting and provided background information on Mauna Loa, including an update on the current unrest, and answered questions. The meeting was held at the Konawaena Elementary School Cafeteria, 81-901 Onouli Rd, Kealakekua.
