(# 13) A key to success is to surround yourself with people who won’t let you quit.

During our trip back home to Hawaii for my step sister’s funeral, we had 2 main objectives outside of the funeral itself. They were to spend as much time as we could with family and make some new memories.
We have been wanting to do the Lanikai Pillbox hike for as long as I can remember. It’s crazy that it was literally only 15 minutes away from where we used to live in Waimanalo, but it took us moving away to add it as a priority for our visit.
My brother and his wife had the day off of work and so we were joined by them and my sister Kawehi and our younger brother Kekoa.
The hike itself is located in Kailua and features 2 military bunkers and some great views of Kailua and Lanikai beach. It may be a difficult hike to do if it is wet but if it is hot, be aware that there is very little shade, so dress accordingly, but also make note that it can get pretty windy as well.
It is no surprise to have learned a life lesson once again from Kekoa. Want to know how having a brother with Down Syndrom has also inspired us? Watch this: https://youtu.be/918xgY6SoLc
