Maneula Malasada Co. Wailea Hawaii #shorts
What is a malasada?
A malasada, sometimes called “Portuguese fried dough,” is a Portuguese confection. It is a fried type of doughnut, made of flattened rounds of yeast dough, flavoured with lemon zest and coated with granulated sugar and cinnamon.
What is the difference between a malasada and a donut?
A malasada is a Portugese doughnut without a hole. We fry generously-sized balls of dough until it’s golden brown on the outside and light & fluffy on the inside. We started making malasadas as part of the Portugese tradition for Shrove Tuesday back in 1953.
