Today we’re heading to Penny’s Malasadas in the Royal Hawaiian Center, Waikiki, to find out if this hidden gem can compete with Hawaii’s most famous malasada shop—Leonard’s Bakery.
I’ve always said Penny’s is one of my favorite places to grab fresh malasadas whenever I’m in Waikiki, but after tasting six different flavors side-by-side with my cameraman, my opinion started changing! 😂
We tried a variety of fresh malasadas, including filled flavors like coconut cream, jelly, and classic sugar-coated originals. The coconut cream was absolutely incredible, and by the end of the video we were going back and forth trying to decide which shop really deserves the crown.
