In Episode 3 of the Oregon series, I’m still in Portland, at GrindWitTryz taking on their GIANT “Mayjah Moco” Hawaiian Loco Moco Challenge!
GrindWitTryz is a Hawaiian-Filipino restaurant founded by Hawaii native Tryzen Patricio. The restaurant is known for bringing a taste of Hawaii to Portland with island-style plate lunches and favorites like Ono Chicken, Kalua Pig, Spicy Ahi Poke, Loco Moco, Spam Musubi, and Hawaiian Nachos. GrindWitTryz has built a loyal following not only for its giant portions, but also for its chill atmosphere and focus on sharing Hawaiian food, culture, and the aloha spirit with the Portland community.
The “Mayjah Moco” Challenge feature a MASSIVE loco moco loaded with rice as the base, then pilled with high with homemade hamburger patty, Kalúa pig, chicken katsu, spam, Portuguese sausage, bacon, fried eggs, all smothered in gravy. On top of the mountain of food you’ll get a side of mac salad. If you can finish all the food within 30 minutes you’ll get the $50 meal free and a $50 gift card!
