This traditional Hawaiian song was composed in the 1800s by Prince Leleiohoku for a Japanese maiden he loved. The original music arranged by Sonny Cunha with copyright 1902 has two verses and a chorus. This arrangement adds one of the two English verses published in the He Mele Aloha Songbook in 2003 and is played with two Waltz Strums for ‘ukulele.
