Mele Fong aka Ukulele Mele tells the story behind the Hawaiian song Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The song was written for the opening of the hotel on February 1, 1927, located along the beach at Waikiki. Known as the “Pink Palace of the Pacific” due to its rose-colored exterior and Spanish-Moorish architecture, the hotel served as Oahu’s playground for the world’s rich and famous.
