This traditional Hawaiian song was written in the 1920s by a popular Kauai musician and politician in honor of Hanalei Valley. In the first verse, Alfred Alohikea talks about the bright green algae growing on the shore (limu of manu'akepa). In the second verse, the song tells of the streams of Molokama that form the mainstream in Hanalei Valley, and Mamalahoa, a mountain peak. This arrangement uses only the most popular first verse twice.
