Ukulele Mele Lesson | Today | 7-chord song with Mele and Rich (revised) - lanikai-beach.net

Mele Fong teaches how to play the popular song Today. Learn how to form on-base ukulele chords in the key of C with 7-chords, and how to strum the Waltz Strum: Chicken Pluck Pluck and What Goes Down Must Come Up Strum (referred to as another waltz strum in 6/8 time that is twice as fast as the waltz strum in 3/4 time). We also played three chords of C7, F, and Fm which are not on the display board, pictured in the song sheets. In revised video, see images of the ukulele chords on the video as Mele teaches how to form them and as she sings and plays the song. Play along by downloading the song sheets below.

This American folk song was popular by the New Christy Minstrels in the 1960s. Formed by Randy Sparks in 1961, this group had several Top 40 folk music hits besides this song. The New Christy Minstrel's film score for the 1964 comedy movie, Advance to the Rear, featuring Glenn Ford and Stella Stevens, was the first complete soundtrack ever made in the folk music style.
