Mele Fong & her husband Richard Tom – The Hawaiian Serenaders – sing & play Ulupalakua on ukulele & u-bass over photos of visiting Maui’s ranch and winery with friends (words below in Hawaiian and English). The song is popular with hula dancers. #playuke #hawaiianmusic
Mele’s arrangement of Ulupalakua is in F with Olapa Strum for ‘ukulele.
This song was written by Hana-born John Pi’ilani Watkins in the 1940s and tells of Ulupalakua Ranch in upcountry Maui, the cold chilly nights, and its cowboys. Ulupalakua is also home to Maui’s only winery.
