This popular song was written by Jimmy Buffet in 1977 about a drink he discovered at a restaurant in Austin, Texas and the first surge of tourists who descended upon Key West, Florida around that time. Named for the cocktail Margarita, the song Margaritaville reflects a laid-back lifestyle in a tropical climate and has come to define Buffet’s music and career. The song was inducted into the 2016 Grammy Hall of Fame. Buffet maintains a resort chain by the same name.
