This contemporary song about Maui’s Mountain was recorded by Dennis Pavao singing and playing it on his CD “The Golden Voice of Hawaii, Vol. 1” that was released in 2004. Pavao was one of several Hawaiian musicians who, during the 1970s, led a Hawaiian music renaissance reviving the Hawaiian falsetto style of singing. Along with his cousins, Ledward and Nedward Ka’apana, Pavao the group Hui ‘Ohana, who became known as the falsetto group in Hawai’i. After the trio disbanded, Pavao pursued a solo career. He died in 2002, age 50.
