Mauka the Hawaiian Jackshund hikes Ka’iwa Ridge, aka Lanikai Pillbox in the quiet little town of Kailua, Oahu. This short but hot hike takes you to 2 old military bunkers. Atop the bunkers, you get panoramic views from Kualoa all the way to Makapu’u, with beautiful Lanikai beach right in front of you. Looking mauka, you’ll be greeted by the Ko’olaupoko section of the Ko’olau mountain range with Mid Pac country club stretched out right below you.

Terrain: rocky and steep
Weather: sunny, around mid 80’s (at 10:30 am start time), passing showers hit us at the bunker.
