Hike the heartpounding and picturesque trail of the Kaiwa ridge aka Lanikai pillbox hike over looking Lanikai beach considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! It is an intermediate hike with a steep uphill grade right from the start, but offers stunning views of the town of Kailua on the island of O’ahu, Hawaii. The pillboxes are actually military bunkers that are scattered across the island from WWII. Allow about an hour and a half to two hours to hike and enjoy the views from the two different pillboxes. Wear good hiking shoes as it is a dusty, rocky hike, use bug spray and sunscreen, wear a hat and bring lots of water for this adventure up to the top of the ridge and of course bring your camera!
