Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are Malasada days at Passion Bakery Cafe located in the Kinipopo Shopping Village in Kapa’a, Kauai.
Get there fast!! There will be a line for these freshly fried and filled Portuguese style donuts and you can only get them on these three days, although the bakery is open six days a week!
Malasadas, as they are known in Hawaii, are a yeast-leavened doughnut enriched with eggs, butter, and sometimes evaporated or fresh milk. After frying, they are rolled in sugar. Though a traditional malasada is ungarnished, on the island they can be found with all manners of filling! Don’t miss the POG (passion fruit, orange, guava)! It’s bursting with flavor.
